Government Reconstruction

With current staffing and subcontractor base, SWMJ Construction can simultaneously reconstruct 30-40 homes while still maintaining a high quality of service delivery. By combing our resources, SWMJ Construction has averaged a build time of 50 days on standard reconstruction homes built for Texas Department of Housing Affairs Programs, while meeting all housing minimum property standards and specifications.

Texas Homeowners Assistance Program (THAP)

THAP was a single family assistance program for individuals residing in 22 designated counties whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Rita in Texas Gulf Coast area. The homes ranged from 800 to 1500 square feet, 1-story floorplans. The program included the demolition of the original home and new construction using a SWMJ Construction floorplan chosen by the applicant. The homes were within a 200 mile radius of each other, located in Beaumont, Jasper, Kirbyville, Port Arthur, Kountze, Silsbee and several smaller towns within the Gulf Coast area of Texas.  At the end of the program in December 2010, SWMJ successfully reconstructed 256 homes.

Harris County Recovers

The Harris County Community Services Department (HCCSD) was awarded a $56 million grant from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) to assist victims of Hurricane Ike in Harris County.  The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds were granted to Texas from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and will be dedicated to Hurricane Ike recovery efforts.

HCCSD launched the Harris County Homeowner's Disaster Recovery Program (HDRP) on October 6th, 2009.  The program will enable eligible Harris County homeowners to repair or reconstruct homes that sustained significant damage from Hurricane Ike.

To date, SWMJ Construction has been awarded 120 Rehabilitation homes and 42 Reconstruction homes in the Harris County Recovers program currently. Currently we have completed 30 rehab homes, 32 active rehabs in process, and have 16 reconstructions in process.

Montgomery County

SWMJ Construction recently reconstructed a home in Splendora, TX. for a family in need. The six bedroom home was very appreciated by both the county and new homeowners.
